An inspired spoof of 1960s action cartoons such as “Johnny Quest,” The Venture Bros., follows the bizarre mis-adventures of Hank and Dean who believe themselves to be an unusually gifted team of “brains” and “braun” while actually possessing very little of either. The boys travel the world with their renowned scientist-father, Doctor Venture — and treat even the most mundane situation as a bold new adventure. As a result, they often find themselves in danger with a host of oddball villains — but rarely find their way out. The rely instead on their body-guard/undercover government agent Brock Sampson, voiced by Patrick Warburton of “The Tick” and “Seinfeld” fame, to save them.

The Venture Bros. Are Back! From the Dead!!5
The second season of Adult Swim’s The Venture Bros. surpasses its first in nearly every way. The first season introduced us to the Venture universe, which is occupied by hilarious characters who never cease to reach new levels of incompetance. Many of the episodes were laugh-out-loud hilarious that remained so throughout the entire half hour. So if season 1 was taht good, yet this year is so much better, that really says something to the quality of season 2.
The precredits sequence of the season premiere, “Powerless in the Face of Death”, is amazing to watch, though some of its power may be lost on DVD. There was a 2-year gap between seasons 1 and 2, and season 1 ended with the deaths of Hank and Dean Venture, the title characters. In the hiatus period, there was a lot of speculation of how the show would go on (Dr. Thaddeus Venture and his brother Jonas Venture, Jr. would be the new Venture Bros., Dr. Orpheus would ressurect them, Dr. Venture would clone them, Dr. Venture would use the Grover Cleveland time machine to save them), and it would be an understatement to say that fans were eagerly awaiting to see what happened next. Set to the tune of the song Everybody’s Free, the opening sequence is a montage of the various major characters, reminding us where they were left and how they are dealing with their various situations. Dr. Orpheus is still upset about the boys’ deaths, for which he blames himself, the Monarch is still in prison while Dr. Girlfriend appears happy, if somewhat bored, living with Phantom Limb, and the Mondarch’s henchmen have nowhere else to go after blowing up the Coccoon lair. Pete White and Master Billy Quizboy have fitted Jonas with a robotic hand replacing his deformed chicken-wing-like appendage. Meanwhile, it appears that Dr. Venture hasn’t been coping well with his sons deaths. He steals the X-1 jet, forcing his bodyguard Brock Samson to go on a global hunt for the good doc.
By the end of the first episode, we find out the creepy truth about the Venture Bros, which was heavily hinted at in the first season. From there the 13 episodes of the season, with possibly one exception, are superb. One thing I liked this year was that there was a little more of an overarching story to the season. The first year had episodes that were pretty much all stand-alone stories, which work with a show like the Venture Bros., but I’m a huge fan of serialized story-telling, and when I started to see developing stories at the end of season 1, I was really excited. The season’s arc actually has to do with the villains, though. It is about the Monarch’s quest to get Dr. Girlfriend back from Phantom Limb. The first two episodes of the season show how he escapes from prison and begins to rebuild his influence. Throughout the season, episodes like “Victor. Echo. November.” and “I Know Why The Caged Bird Kills” show the hilarious journey that the Monarch takes to win back his love from a vastly superior villain.
Still, there are plenty of stand-alone episodes. In my opinion, no other Venture episode embodies that idea so well than “Escape From the House of Mummies, Part II”. The episode satirizes multi-episode stories, as there is no Part I, but it also pulls a huge trick by switching around the A and B stories. While the story of Hank, Dean, and Brock’s journey through a cursed temple accompanied by various historical figures would normally be the focus of the episode, it is merely the backup story that supplements the story of a silly bet between Dr. Orpheus and Dr. Venture over whether magic or science is superior. “Twenty Years to Midnight” is a great example of parody of adventure tales, with the Venture family trying to track down various pieces of a machine built by Hank and Dean’s grandfather. The Impossible family, a wonderfully twisted parody of the Fantastic Four, show up to make things more difficult for the Ventures, and a cameo by Johnny Quest (the main influence of the show) make for an amazing episode. Nearly every episode was phenominal (with the exception of “Guess Who’s Coming to State Dinner?”, which even the creators kind of agree with), from “Fallen Arches”, which introduces Dr. Orpheus’ old team to “Hate Floats”, which features a team-up of Phantom Limb and Brock.
The season ends with the 2-part extravaganza “Showdown at Cremation Creek”, which completely changes the status quo for the next season. There is a wedding, a huge battle led by Brock and soldiered by the Monarch’s henchmen, a bizarre fantasy sequence involving Dean filling in the role of the lead in The Neverending Story, and David Bowie! It ends with a great cliffhanger, though after having the title characters die, it would be hard to match the season 1 cliffhanger.
While there are plenty of crazy situations, the show wouldn’t be half of what it is without the amazing characters. With few exceptions, everyone in the Venture universe is somehow a failure. Dr. Venture is utterly incompetant as a “super-scientist” despite what he believes, his sons are oblivious to nearly everything in life (Dean and Hank think that an erection is caused by evil spirits), and Brock, though a great bodyguard, has no self-control. The Monarch and his henchmen can barely do their “jobs”; the Monarch is jealous, weak, and unable to understand why people can’t get anything done, while his henchmen are out of shape nerds who quiver at the words “Brock Samson”. Though Dr. Orpheus is a competant necromancer, he is a know-it-all workaholic who drives away the people he cares about.
Most guest stars from season 1 returned, including the Pirate Captain, the Impossibles, Peter White and Billy Quizboy, Baron Underbheit, and the Impossibles. All of these characters were loved by fans, and were effectively used this year as well. But there were plenty of new characters this year that quickly became fan favorites as welll. Personally, I really want to see more of Jefferson Twighlight and The Alchemist, the two other members of Dr. Orpheus’ group the Order of the Triad. Twilight is a parody of Blade and the Alchemist is a gay monk who can’t really decided what to do with his life (voiced by Dana Snyder of Aqua Teen Hunger Force). Dr. Henry Killinger is a hilarious “consultant” whose true purpose is better left to be found out while watching. Finally, there was the strange Observor from “Twenty Years to Midnight”, whose catchphrase “IGNORE ME!” was incredibly funny every time it was spoken.
Despite one misstep, this is a great season of animated television. Many shows on Adult Swim’s lineup (that were created for AS) look awful; the animation and/or plot appear to be worth almost nothing, but the Venture Bros. is at the other end of the spectrum. Despite being underrated, it is one of the funniest cartoons I’ve ever seen, ranking up there with South Park and The Simpsons.

The smartest and most well-planned cartoon out there, hands down.5
First of all, let me correct Fernando Gonzales by saying that this show IS still hand-drawn … only the coloring and inking are digitally done. That’s one of the reasons it’s a favorite of mine, really.

Now, on to the review. It’s not that I didn’t think Jackson and Doc would be able to top Season One. It’s that I knew they could … and they STILL blew me away. If you’ve seen Season One of The Venture Brothers, you -need- to see this one. It’s got everything the first had, and more … the character development, in particular, is absolutely stupendous. The boys at Astrobase Go really know their characters, and they’ve started to show us just how much.

If you like your cartoons smart, funny, strange, and full of more clever pop culture references than you can shake a shrink ray at, check this one out. I did, at the urging of a friend, while the first season was still out, and I was hardly disappointed. VB is one of the few shows on television I actually care about missing, these days. I’m looking forward to seeing what the special features and commentary have in store, too – the ones on The Venture Bros. – Season One were phenomenal.

So, in the words of Dr. Byron Orpheus… “Yes! GO, Team Venture!”

Go Team Venture!5
One of the funniest shows on Adult Swim is the “Venture Brothers,” a deeply warped look at boys’ adventure characters like Jonny Quest and the Hardy Brothers.

The second season is basically much the same as the first, building on previous storylines (example: Jonas Jr.) and having various kooky violent adventures for our friends, and hilarious dialogue (”You’ve come to steal our great ideas. You’ve been foiled–we have none!”). That is, after they deal with the shocking cliffhanger that the first season ended with– the death of Hank and Dean, the title characters.

The second season opens with Dr. Venture escaping to various exotic locales, before being dragged home by Brock. A devastated Dr. Orpheus decides to use necromancy to bring the boys back to life, but can’t find their souls — and a zombielike Hank and Dean appear in the doorway.

Oops, it turns out that the boys have a penchant for getting killed, and so Dr. Venture always keeps handy clones in the compound — and presto, the Venture Brothers have returned, unaware that they ever died. Meanwhile, Dr. Venture has a nasty encounter with a teleportation device, and the Monarch escapes from prison (courtesy of a gay gorilla with a romantic streak).

In the episodes that follow, the newly cloned Venture Brothers (plus Dr. Venture and Brock) must deal with a variety of new and bizarre adventures: a crazy woman who might be connected to the twins, evil Egyptian cults, aliens, Lincoln’s ghost, Japanese demons, “Venturestein,” villainous double-dates, bad porn, and Baron underbheit mistaking Dean for a girl… and falling in love with him.

The second season of “Venture Brothers” is, if it’s possible, even funnier than the first was — the storylines just keep getting stranger and more comic, and the characters are just as kooky as ever. The climax of all the weirdness is the finale, with a big battle, and a shocking discovery about the Guild’s Sovereign… right before we get another cliffhanger.

On the new front, there’s plenty of unethical experiments, blood’n'gore, wacky quests, teenage crushes, and two-part episodes with no “part 1.” And since we were left wondering about questions like “where is the twins’ mother?”, “how did Brock get this way?” or “when will Dr. Orpheus get an arch?”, we actually get some answers on that front. Since this is the “Venture Bros,” there are no remotely normal ones.

The stories are as well-written as ever, with weird plot details (when underbheit hears that there are no holding cells, he orders “Put zhem in… ZE PANTRY!”), and gloriously wonky dialogue (”I have watched you pull a man’s eyes from his head and make him dance like a marionette with his own optic nerves!” ” At least I didn’t break his heart”).

James Urbaniak is excellent as “amphetamines and failure” scientist Rusty Venture, and Patrick Warburton is (as always) hilarious as the bloodthirsty Swede secret agent Brock. Michael Sinterniklaas and Christopher McCulloch are also great as (respectively) Dean, Hank and the whiny-voiced Monarch, and Steven Ratazzi is great as the hyperdramatic necromancer. Too bad a certain real-life person doesn’t play himself.

The second season of “Venture Brothers” is every shred as good as the first one, and will leave viewers dangling painfully at the end. When does Season 3 start?

Stay away from this garbage. Took them forever to just ship it in the first place. I plugged it into the charger it came with to charge it and the second I did I noticed the stand-by light come on. I let it charge for 3 hours and when I took it off of the charger nothing happens. Tried to connect to 4 different pc’s here tried the reset button and nothing. Just sits here with the stand-by light on. If you want something like this don’t be cheap like me.

While we’re going camping, we’re going to have some songs and fun and dancing, and excitement, and all the rest.

This video ranks high up there with the “live action” ones, what with the Announce Along gang joining in with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Chip and Dale, and the others in a fun fest which brings you on a tour of many of the sights of Discovery Island and River Country. Donald Duck is there camping out, as is Goofy, and the glimpse of him water skiing is worth the trace of the video. (He’s actually quite capable!!!)

Then there are the songs – many from years before, such as “The Caissons Go Marching Along,” “Don’t Fence Me In,” “Mountain Greenery,” and when the dancers do “Turkey in the Straw,” it’s a true hoot, and our two twin girls want to bag up and dance and dance and dance….

A terrific addition to any collection!!!

We took our 30 month former to Disney and she was so weirded out by the charaters because they were in her face! But when I bought her the whole entire Disney charactors video she wanted to go aid to Florida again.
This is a MUST to prepare your exiguous ones for all the attractions and characters. Its so considerable fun memorizing the songs and seek your childrens face glow!
The camp out will prepare them for all the outdoors characters.

British filmmaker James Miller traveled to Palestine in 2003 to perform a documentary about the affect of violence on the lives of Palestinian children. He also planned to create a companion film about Israeli children. Tragically, Miller was shot and killed by Israeli forces in Rafah while making his documentary. Consequently, the film’s focus was diverted from its initial purpose. What remains is a film that is partially a tribute to the bravery and commitment of Miller, and partially a account about the poisoned lives of children growing up in Palestine.

The camera captures the atmosphere of the streets. Walls are covered with posters of militants and those killed in the conflict. When the sun sets, there’s an unearthly scene as the street vendors proceed and then “paramilitaries arrive out at night using the humdrum to recruit more militants.” Of course, those recruited are usually young males–some peaceful in childhood. In one horrific scene, Saira Shah–also the film’s narrator–is mettlesome enough to interview some hooded Palestinian paramilitaries who are grooming Ahmed, a young boy to join their ranks. The paramilitaries play games with the boy and the games prance into teaching him how to fill a rocket grenade launcher. When Shah asks if it is correct to recruit young children to be terrorists, the hooded paramilitary member strokes the boy’s head and chillingly responds, “don’t pain about responsibility, sister, we’re men, when we say goodbye to Ahmed, there are 1000s more like him.”

The film shows quite clearly that children on the streets of Palestine are well aware of imminent death and that their lives are irrevocably altered by their day-to-day existence–it is current for children to write letters to their families in case they are killed. “Death in Gaza” cannot be labeled as ‘pro’ or ‘con’ either side of this mess, and the film’s place is strongly anti-violence. What a tragedy that James Miller was killed, and what a loss that we will never peruse his intended companion portion film–displacedhuman

This documentary is both extremely gloomy and extremely remarkable. I first saw Death in Gaza when it originally aired on HBO a couple years ago. Since then, I’ve periodically searched for it to no avail. When I found out Amazon.com would be carrying it, I immediately purchased it. This is a must-see for anyone involved in Middle East politics or the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. It is both heart-breaking and disturbing to seek what reality is for so many. One of the most enchanting scenes for me is the funerals for the martyrs. Some are crying, some are chanting militant anthems, and a man on a megaphone incites the people to Jihad. “We must continue the struggle until victory or martyrdom” he urges, his exclaim reverberating while an eerie soundtrack plays in the background. Seeing the impact on the children is also difficult to perceive. This is a reality that should be seen by all.

Customer Reviews:

I’ve had this watch for years, and it’s a good one3
I’ve owned this watch for a good 15 years. Not one watch, mind you; I’ve bought the exact same watch about 5 times over that period. It is a good watch, nice looking, loud enough alarm, and it lasts a long time on the included lithium battery.

The watch is definitely waterproof, but although the body of the watch looks like it’s made out of metal, it is actually plastic, and the bottom of it will eventually pit out from sweat or water. So, take it off in the shower or pool.

My big gripe about the watch is the band. I prefer metal stretchy bands to metal snap-on bands or leather bands. This is a spiedel-type band, which will stretch over your hand and snap back in place. Frankly, the reason I’ve had to get so many of these watches over the years is that I will inevitably get the band caught on something while I’m taking off something or putting it on, and it will snap.

It is cheaper to buy an entirely new watch than to replace the band (around $25 versus $14), so that’s what I do. I then use the old watches as supplementary alarms for years. And they do last for years.

A good, solid, digital watch that will give you years of trouble free use as long as you treat it right.

Great watch, small band!!4
This is a great watch, it really is, I really like it, BUT, I found that the watch band that comes with it is quite small, and, no, I’m not a big, fat person, I’m normal-sized, and this watchband is very definitely on the small (very small) side! Otherwise, a very nice watch, though.

Fun, flavorful, and pretty affordable4
I was without a watch for awhile, but am thrilled I’ve found this. I’ve owned it for several months, and like the gold color coupled with the LED — it feels kind of 80s retro, like something out of the Miami Vice era.

Haven’t had any problems with it thus far; it does what it says, tells time, and looks great doing so.

On the downside, it’s not immediately intuitive to figure out which button does what, but through repeated usage, you’ll learn.

One notable feature omission: a countdown timer!

Aside from that, I’m very pleased with this purchase.

The Timex Story

The Timex Watch Company

Timex Group B.V. is one of the best-known American watch companies. Timex’s U.S. headquarters are located in Middlebury Connecticut and it has substantial operations in China, the Philippines and India and full scale sales companies in Canada, the UK, France and Mexico.

The company began in 1854 as Waterbury Clock in Connecticut’s Naugatuck Valley, known during the nineteenth century as the “Switzerland of America.” Sister company Waterbury Watch manufactured the first inexpensive mechanical pocket watch in 1880. During World War I, Waterbury began making wristwatches, which had only just become popular, and in 1933 it made history by creating the first Mickey Mouse clock under license from Walt Disney, with Mickey’s hands pointing the time.

During World War II, Waterbury renamed itself U.S. Time Company. In 1950 the company introduced a wristwatch called the Timex. Over the next three decades, Timex was sold through a series of advertisements which emphasized its durability by putting the watch through “torture tests,” such as falling over the Grand Coulee Dam or being strapped to the propeller of an outboard motor, with the slogan “It takes a licking and keeps on ticking.” With the help of former Olympic broadcaster, spokesman John Cameron Swayze, sales took off. The company later became Timex Corporation, then Timex Group and, to date, has sold over one billion watches.

The company has remained very competitive and the Timex brand continues its dominance through present day. Its primary market remains the United States and Canada, although the Timex brand is sold worldwide due to its ability to capitalize on its strong brand image and reputation for quality.

One of the most successful and important features available on many Timex watches is the Indiglo backlight system. Indiglo is a brand name of Indiglo Corporation, solely owned by Timex for licensing purposes. Timex electroluminescent lamps, branded Indiglo, were introduced in 1992 in the Ironman watch line. They were an immediate success. The Indiglo® lamp uniformly lights the surface of the Timex’s watch dials in a manner that makes the dial read very easily in many different light settings. In some newer watches the Indiglo backlight only lights up the numbers, rather than the entire LCD display, which is achieved by means of a specialized film that inverts the LCD transmissivity.

Today, Timex Group products are manufactured in the Far East and in Switzerland often based on technology that continues to be developed in the United States and in Germany. With a large and varied line of watches, Timex has the style for everyone. From the locker room to the board room, there is a great Timex style time-piece for you.

The fishing schooner We’re Here has just pulled up a different kind of fish: rich, 10-year-old Harvey Cheyne, who tumbled off the side of a sleek ocean liner. Harvey will have to wait months before the We’re Here returns to harbor, months that will transform him from a spoiled whiner into an honorable young man – all because of the life lessons he learns from Manuel, the humble fisherman who befriends him. From Rudyard Kipling’s classic, Captains Courageous thrills with its seagoing action, grand scale and all-star cast. But what gives it full-masted magnificence is the chemistry between Freddie Bartholomew (Harvey) and Spencer Tracy (Manuel). Tracy won his first Best Actor Academy Award?* for his towering portrait of the father we all wish for: virile, patient, wise and protective. Set sail for cinema glory.

Why don’t “THEY” make movies like this one any longer?5
“Captain’s Courageous” is IT…the real thing….a truly great, heartfelt, classic film….arguably THE most emotionally compelling film of Hollywod’s Golden Age.

Victor Fleming was known as a “MAN”S” director; so how did he produce one of the most perfectly paced, sensitive and outright BEAUTIFULLY loving “relationship” films of all time…..a story of a profound bond between a boy and a man who becomes his surrogate father? It’s simply amazing.

OK…you have to overcome your initial reaction to Spencer Tracy’s pseudo-”Portegoosie” (as John Carradine says) accent; after that…sit back and prepare to lose yourself in moviemaking at its finest.

Freddie Bartholomew….incredible performance! The growing bond between him and Spence….superbly wrought! The heaviness, the heartbreak of the film’s final 15 minutes…..I experience it as if it were actually happening to me every time I watch it! This is one of those films that I am happy to know simply EXISTS…it’s sitting there on the shelf, ready to be experienced any time, and that gives me great satisfaction.

The scene of conflict with Tracy and John Carradine….then the uncomfortable but caring bond that develops bewteen Carradine and Freddie Bartholomew near the end…..the reuniting of Freddie with Melvin Douglas….has there ever been a more revealing encounter? The final ceremony scene…..I’ve never been particularly moved by the hymn “Rock of Ages”; now the emotions well up when I even THINK about it.

Why Don’t THEY make movies like this any longer????….BECAUSE THEY CAN’T! The world has changed..our values, our ways of viewing and expressing ourselves have become too “sophisticated” and cynical. Oh sure, Spielberg and others desperately TRY to go back to the sincerity and innocence of the age which produced “Captain’s Courageous”….they do a decent job of conjuring, of IMITATING films of the Golden Age…but …well, you simply CANNOT GO BACK.

If you want to experience the REAL THING—-the sincere, honest, heartfelt emotional experience of a great story…GET THIS FILM.

AND FOR GOD”S SAKE (MGM, Turner…whoever..) GET IT OUT ON DVD! It’s your RESPONSIBILITY to preserve these great films using the newest state-of-the-art technology. Believe me, when every last “BIG MOMMA’s HOUSE” has been dead and buried as the CRAP that it is, “Captain’s Courageous” will live on….and hopefully NOT only as a memory!

    Lord, what a film!5
I don’t profess to be an experienced movie critic, but this is one of the best movies I’ve ever seen. A wonderful story of a spoiled rich kid who gets taught some values by a lowly Portugese fisherman. I actually thought, after reading other reviews, that this might push the hammy side of things a bit, but I was wrong. The bond that develops between the two characters – slowly at first, and then stronger as the boy Harvey learns gets attached to Manuel and starts developing into a real person – is one of the greatest ‘love’ stories to ever hit the silver screen. Spencer Tracy won an Oscar for his performance, and Freddie Bartholomew’s performance will move you to tears.

I still am impressed by the timeless screenplay (based on the Rudyard Kipling novel), the convincing special effects (remember this movie was released in 1937). The racing scenes and the storm scenes are still completely convincing.

Why this movie has not been restored and out on DVD one will never know. On one viewing it has become one of my all time favorites. It is a real gem.

I Urge You To See This Film!5
This is a marvelous movie about a spoiled, insecure child who brags, manipulates, and uses his wealth & positon to feel strong & good about himself (sound like anyone you know?). After being suspended from school for his antics he is dragged to Europe to accompany his father on a business trip. En route, he accidentenly falls overboard from the oceanliner (that’s how they travelled in those days – - airplane travel was new, rare and horribly expensive) and is rescued by a fisherman. He learns his lesson, matures and acquires integrity through his association with the crew of fisherman & in particular Spencer Tracy’s character.

This fine cast consists of legends who give wonderful performances: John Carradine, Lionel Barrymore, Mickey Rooney, Melvyn Douglas and of course, Spencer Tracy.

The film also gives you a rare glimpse into a way of life past. Today we have huge fishing ships that net miles of fish and have the canneneries right on board. Without it being intentional, the movie shows one what life was like when people still cared about the work they did and had pride in the honest work they had accomplished. And how many of us still entertain ourselves and family by singing together and/or playing a musical instrument rather than turning to solitary pursuits with electronic machinery? I am not waxing nostalgic for the days before the advent of universal elecricity! However, the movie is a snapshot in time of a not so distant past that inspires much food for thought.

You may show this movie to your children without fear;not only is there nothing unseemly in it, it has a valuable lesson to teach us all. And it is of much better quality than any of the so-called “family films” that have been produced in the last two decades. Moreover, it opens up many interesting topics for discussion.

HOLLYWOOD TAKE NOTE: you don’t need punchy soundtracks, death defying stunts and high tech wizardry to make a good movie – - just an honest story, a good script and a fine cast. This movie proves that. It was made 70 yrs ago and we’re still buying it.

My only complaint with this film is that it’s not available on DVD.

MARCH 2006: Thank goodness, this wonderful film has been released on DVD. There are no real ’special features’ to speak of but after having not seen the movie for a long time (I gave up my VCR years ago) I was just so glad to have the movie and share it with my family.

I disagree with most of the crtical reviews of this movie 150%! Not only was this movie my current Rocky film (YES, even more than the modern Rocky), it is one of my all time well-liked movies which I have seen dozens of times and NEVER grow extinct of it. So powerful so it became the inspiration of the main graphic on my business web area.

    Why? For many reasons.

To me the Rocky theme never grows weak. It is the classic “Hero’s Waddle.” The underdog in life that is challenged to pull deep within, fight the inner “demons,” connect with one’s proper strength and inner potential and triumph in the kill.

What makes Rocky IV different and more potent in my mind is the incompatibility in themes. In this movie, Rocky is at the top of his game (in fact retire with all the trappings of success) and is forced to stare deep within again but for a great deeper and more soul provoking reason. His best friend and unusual boxing contender — Apollo Creed — has lost his life in the boxing ring to the testerone-driven, freakish, goliath-like Russian boxing challenger. This castrophe forces Rocky to do some deep soul-searching about how “he sold his passion for glory.” (from “The Observe of the Tiger” song) .

How many people in the business world and life in general, sacrifice their passion for glory?! Probably 95+%. Being a business coach, I constantly behold for movies, books, stories that coach people in their businesses. To me this movie has that compelling message. “We must fight to preserve our passions alive.”

The other aspect that I like about this movie is the strong dissimilarity between nature and technology. Rocky flies off to the desolated mountains of Siberia using nature as his training ground, connecting with his upright inner strength. The Russian on the other hand uses all the latest high tech gear and non-stop steroids to design his massive robotic body that looks more like a machine. Another well-known lesson.

While technology has great value to our society, how often do we allow technology to rule our lives, stripping us of our of our connection with ourselves and other people, making us feel more like machines?

If you search for at this movie as objective a boxing movie, you miss the deeper lessons it can have for your life. Go witness this movie with recent eyes and search for its lustrous message unfold in front of your eyes.

The Rocky films are such attractive movies. I don’t contemplate anybody that has seen any of them other than five has felt motivated to do something with there lives. In the first three Rocky films we gawk the Italian Stallion near from a nobody to a somebody. He’s the heavy weight champion of the world and has overcome a lot. Rocky IV shows they were running out of ideas and naturally Sylvester went to the easy contrivance out, he’d have Rocky fight communism.

Rocky IV is simple enough to follow. Ivan Drago(Dolph Lundgren) is the next stout thing in the boxing world. He’s the enourmus Russian that looks unbeatable. He’s won the gold medal and has cleaned Europe out. He comes to America looking to become the champion and set Soviet boxing abet on the contrivance. Apollo Creed(Carl Weathers) wants Ivan. The Soviet agress to the match to explain that he’s unbeatable. He kills Apollo in the match and then looks at Rocky like he’s next. Rocky(Stallone) feels responsible for the death of Apollo. He’s unsure if he can beat the Soviet. Even his hold wife Adrian doubts him. It’s now up to Rocky to rediscover himself and restore honor to himself, Apollo Creed, and the United States.

Rocky IV is such a hoaky movie it’s pleasing. The East vs West residence up is ample. It’s not objective Rocky vs Drago, it’s the United States vs the Soviet Union. This 1985 movie did engage residence during the arms bustle and it’s a spacious patriotic sage. Very few movies have me made want to scream USA out while I’m watching them and Rocky IV does that.

I have to tip my hat to Syvelster Stallone and Dolph Lundgren. Both are in fantastic shape for the movie. Everybody that has seen the movie loves the scenes in Russia where Rocky and Drago are training. It’s so barbaric, tender, and motivating all at the same time. The two in there boxing scenes also peer excellent. Drago is the most impossing force ever scene in any of the Rocky films. Dolph broke most of Stallones ribs during the filming and did a number on bones in his face. You have to esteem that kind of dedication from Stallone who also wrote and directed.

Rocky IV is an favorable film. A lot of people said they should have stoped after III and they are depraved. Rocky IV is a mammoth motivational and patriotic myth. In a liberal dominated hollywood and media it’s titanic to recognize a feel obedient movie like Rocky IV.

    Terrific looking and zero maintenance5
I have been wearing a Swiss Army Officers watch for the past 12 years and it has served me very well. I’m tough on my watches and they have to stand up to the rigors of everyday use on the job. I’m okay with battery changes every 18 to 24 months. Well, it was time to retire my venerable SA watch even though it works just fine. It just looks very beat up. Years of abuse took their toll on the bracelet, the case and the crystal.

I shopped around for a new watch with day/date, a metal case and bracelet and I have to admit that this Casio watch was not anywhere on my radar. Most of the better quality watches were in the $250 to $475 price range which, for my work purposes, is a bit “rich”. By accident, I came across this model Casio on another website and I read the many reviews it had already received, the overwhelming majority of which were glowing.

I was admittedly intrigued by the technology – atomic, so that it sets itself automatically AND solar, so that battery changes are a thing of the past. As long I wear the watch or store it so that it’s in the open in normal daylight, the built-in power battery remains fully charged and it just keeps ticking, up to 5 months without any recharging from ambient daylight. There’s even a power saving mode if you wish. Any cumulative loss of timekeeping seconds is eliminated as it regularly sets itself to the atomic clock in Colorado without any intervention by the wearer.

The watch has some heft to it and it’s not a small faced watch but it’s not heavy on the wrist either. Quite comfortable in fact. The bracelet is nicely made and it resembles that of my old Swiss Army watch. Instead of those annoying overly-protruding small round “buttons”, the watch has long smooth oval buttons for the various functions, etc. and they’re set relatively close to the edge of the case.

The watch comes with a rather stout but small instruction manual and it’s not too easy or straightforward to initially set it up or to walk through the many features. But, as long as you maintain some level of patience and read the manual, it all comes together. Once it’s set to your city and your preferences, using it is non-eventful.

The bracelet has numerous links and is shipped large to accomodate very big wrists so if you’re not too handy or adroit in driving out the small pins to remove the appropriate number of links, you may want to bring it to one of those “while-u-wait” jewelry and watch repair repair kiosks or stores. That way, the technician can take out the correct number links from each side as he/she actually fits it to your wrist. The fold-over clasp is nicely made and utilizes a squeeze mechanism to release it rather than a friction snap.

All in all, this is tremendous feature-packed watch for the price. Casio products enjoy a reputation for quality, dependability and value. This model watch is virtually maintenance free, i.e. no button cell battery to change and always accurate because it regularly sets itself to the atomic clock in Colorado.

It offers 10 bar static pressure water resistance which according to the owner’s manual means that it will withstand splashes, rain, swimming, car washing, snorkeling and shallow diving but not scuba diving. Attractive, stylish and from all the reviews I read, reasonably rugged and durable. The owners manual states that it is both shock AND vibration resistant, specifically mentioning that is good for wearing during hard sports, motocross, chain saw operation, rock drill operation, etc.

Now, perhaps it’s not as durable a watch as I could have purchased for 3, 4 or 5 times the money BUT when its respectable durability is combined with atomic calibration and solar operation, it’s an unbeatable value for the money being spent. And, the inevitable scratches and dings that come with wearing it every day for work won’t “hurt” nearly as much.

    Simply Excellent5
While it is a little on the larger side, this watch keeps itself charged from the light it finds on your wrist; maintains accuracy with a daily sync to an atomic clock, and looks good.
